Xuan Ye is the prototype of many objects, one of which is a.pureapparat.us. Disquieting the infrastructure of poiesis, a.pureapparat.us and its etceteras vacillate within the spectrum of the habitual, the unusual, the perpetual, and the ephemeral.

 

Describe your artistic process or practice with three to five words

 

#decode, #network, #reverberate

 

Who are some visual art influences that impact your craft?

 

Noise, chinese calligraphy, prehistoric arts, (concrete) poetry.

 

Who / what are some non-visual art influences that impact your craft?

 

Diagrams (science models, flowcharts, etc.), outdoor advertisements, contemporary dance/martial arts.

 

What are some habits you cultivate to get you into the work groove?

 

Routine mind gymnastics: I spend two hours everyday going through materials I collected in folders that are pre-categorized by projects in Google Drive, laptop, and literal binders -- Draw concept map: thread dots -- Make prototypes

 

If you could see one piece of art right now, which one would it be?

 

The vibration of the air here right now

I strongly resonate with the other artists and visitors during this residency. Rewarding critique experiences ))))) plz feel-share my happiness (((((

 

Talk a bit about what you’ve been working on the last few weeks?

 

CARESSSSS is an echo-reflection to be activated by vibratory sources, be it light, affect, imagination, etc. The voices of objects channel their dispositions through the caress of lens flares, angel wings, and the agency of words.
